B+W Filters

MRC (MULTI RESISTANT COATING) - This filter fulfils the desire of many photographers for pure lens protection without a filter effect. Its only function is to keep dirt, sand or splashes away from the front lens. The extremely clear special glass with high transmission is MRC finished. The hydrophobic coating reduces the adhesion of particles and water drops. The advantages are easy cleaning and maximum reflection reduction. Also available with Slim mount for super wide angle lenses.

All Filters are listed with the filter rings made of BRASS , unless otherwise specified

007 (CLEAR) MRC Series

The clear glass protective filter clear 007 has an optically high-quality clear glass with an MRC cost and serves only as protection for the front lens. This filter is completely neutral, it fulfils the desire of many photographers for pure lens protection without a filter effect. Its only function is to keep dirt, sand, or splashes away from the front lens. The extremely clear special glass with high transmission is MRC-finished.

It offers high, even transmission in the visible range, since it is made of a very clear, colorless special glass (B - 270 by Desag); the surface is finely polished for the highest optical performance level, and also has the innovative B+W hydrophobic multilayer (Multi Resistant Coating).
With this coating, the tendency for moisture, dust, and other dirt particles to adhere is significantly reduced, and the scratch resistance of the surface is significantly increased, thanks to the improved hardness of the outer layer. In actual use, the B+W MRC coating not only guarantees the maximum in reflection reduction, but also very simple cleaning and care of the filter.

Note: It has thread on both sides.

010 ( UV ) MRC Series

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. MRC Coating (Multi-Resistant Coating) by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches *for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.

Ultraviolet light, which manifests itself in photographs as reduced clarity and the appearance of haze, is blocked by the UV 010. Ultraviolet light is invisible to the eye and is strong in mountainous and coastal areas with very clear air. This makes the colorless UV 010 an indispensable filter because it requires no exposure compensation. It is recommended as an ideal filter to be kept permanently on the lens to protect the front element. Filter factor is 1.0.

Note: It has thread on both sides.

CPL MRC SERIES

Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Filter factor is between 2.3 and 2.8 (approx. +1.3 stops).

Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems) and video cameras. It does not influence the metering systems of these cameras. Made in Germany using high quality Schneider optical glass held in place by heavy duty brass rings, these filters are the epitome of quality.

Compared to the earlier B+W standard mount, The B+W Standard Filter Mount F-Pro has been improved considerably. While maintaining the excellent quality of materials, fabrication, and high mechanical stability, the new F-Pro mount has become thinner, so that now it can also be used on many wide-angle lenses without the danger of vignetting. Another advantage of the new F-Pro filter mount is its modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. This prevents the retaining ring from being accidentally loosened during the removal of an additional filter or a lens hood that has been screwed in too tightly.

XS - PRO MRC SERIES

Key Features:

Provide Extra-Slim Mounting Rings that Eliminate Problems Associated with SLR Wide-angle and Telephoto Imaging.

All XS-Pro filters employ a newly developed mounting ring that is especially suited for SLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. The extremely thin design prevents the mounting ring from vignetting in even the widest shots.
At 3mm thick it has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. You can use "center-pinch" or "snap-on" caps with these filters.
All XS-PRO Digital mounts are made of Brass to prevent binding and are matte black to prevent reflections.
Schneider’s Proprietary MRC Coating

Schneider’s Proprietary MRC Coating MRC refers to the unique Multi Resistant Coating developed by Schneider-Kreuznach, which comes as standard on B+W XS-Pro Digital Filters. It provides perfect anti-reflection, brilliant colors and high contrast. In addition, the scratch-resistant, water- and dirt- repellent outer layer makes it easier to clean the glass surface. Due to its low residual reflection (0.5%) MRC prevents ghosting or double images, which can be caused by return reflections from sensors.

Note: It has thread on both sides.

Kaesemann MRC Circular Polarizer Filter

The "high-end" polarizing foils of the Kaesemann-type filters are neutral in color, they have a higher efficiency than conventional polarizing foils and they are cemented between high-grade plano-parallel optical glass. The resulting sandwich is then precision-polished again to achieve highly accurate plano-parallel surfaces. Subsequently they are edge-sealed to protect the foil against humidity. Brass mounts made on CNC-controlled machines ensure precise seating on the lens. Discriminating photographers regards the B+W Kaesemann-Type Polarizing Filter to be the very best of all polarizing filters. They are well suited for applications that require the highest possible imaging quality, especially with high-speed telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses.

Kaesemann MRC Slim Series

B&W slim filters come with Push On Filter Cap, and do not have a front thread. In most cases, "SLIM" filters permit exposures even with extreme wide-angle lenses with focal lengths as short as 17mm without vignetting caused by the filter mount.
